The Words We're Given

Reflections on Seeing Life Differently

About the book

Sometimes the most meaningful things arrive quietly.

A single word. A chance encounter. A moment we almost overlook.

In more than 90 short readings, The Words We're Given explores perspective, gratitude, faith, struggle, wonder, and the unexpected lessons hiding in ordinary moments.

These are reflections meant to be lived with—not rushed through. Read one at a time, return to the ones that stay with you, or simply open to a page and see what word meets you there.

Sometimes a single word can change the way we see everything.

The story behind it

It started with a walk.

The words behind this book emerged during prayerful walks along the beach. Sometimes it was a word that seemed to arrive out of nowhere. Sometimes something seen along the way sparked a thought. Sometimes the ordinary became interesting simply because enough attention was paid to it.

Those moments became notes. The notes became reflections. And eventually, the reflections became this book.

What you'll find inside

90+ invitations to pay attention.

Some reflections lean toward faith. Some toward gratitude or struggle. Others begin with something almost comically ordinary. The common thread is perspective: looking again before deciding you've already seen everything there is to see.
